Entrepreneurs of the Future
The University of Leicester visited Regent College this term to put Business students through their paces.
Twelve level 3 diploma students took part in the Dragon’s Den style competition: Entrepreneurs of the Future Business Ideas.
The students pitched their ideas for new business ideas to a panel consisting of Katie Morris From the University of Leicester , David Ryan from Skills for Enterprise, Frances Bettsworth Business Curriculum Leader and Dan Gurr Vocational Coordinator for BTEC. They then faced tough questions on the viability and sustainability of their ideas.
Ideas included party planning with catering, clothes made from recyclable clothing, personalised stationary and bespoke lunchboxes.
After a lively discussion the panel selected two groups to go forward for the grand final in June where they will compete against finalists from other Leicester schools and colleges.
The groups selected were Outlandish Casuals ( Hussein Ahmed, Ameen Patel and Salman Khansia) and Let’s Party ( Auzair Collector).
Business Course tutor Ahmad Noor said: “This interesting project has helped us to embed enterprise within our curriculum in an engaging and meaningful way as well as explore important moral and ethical issues.”
