Baroness gives talk on House of Lords
6th May 2011
Baroness Byford, a member of the House of Lords visited Regent College today to talk to Law, Government & Politics and Citizenship students. The Conservative Peer from Rothley, Leicestershire, gave an insight into her role in Parliament and the workings of the House of Lords.
Citizenship student Sam Humphries ,19, questioned Baroness Byford on the number of women in the House of Lords. He said: “ I enjoyed the talk, it could help to inspire students to take more of an interest in politics.”
Baroness Byford said: “I enjoyed speaking with the students, particularly as I have a granddaughter of a similar age. It’s important that we give young people an opportunity to have opinions heard, even when they have strong views. Young people need to feel that they can participate in politics, as they are the future.”
