Space team success in Russia
Six students are celebrating their success after a once in a lifetime trip to Russia to compete in the International Space Olympics.
Shara M., Suzy B., Lucy U., Kishan P., Tom L. and Varun K. (part of a 22 strong Leicester team) competed against stiff international competition in tough science, maths and creative writing exams. They also had to give presentations on a space related topic.
During the 10 day trip funded by Aimhigher the students spoke to crew on board the International Space Station and visited some of Moscow’s famous sites including the Kremlin and the Bolshoi Theatre.
Leicester had the overall competition winner this year, the first time there has been a winner from outside Russia. Regent College students Lucy and Varum also won individual prizes for their own outstanding performances at the event and as part of the Leicester team.
